I believe my 2 cats have herpes virus 1, a friend said I should first try giving them Terramycin to clear their eyes up because it can also help the body fight of the virus. What should I do? P.S. Herpes virus?? I have had a sore, red, swollen knuckle for about a month. It got worse around Christmas and the skin is very red and I have 2 open areas on the area. The doc told me it could be bacterial and gave me 3 weeks of cephalexin. It does look better, but still is not healing as well as I would think it should after 9 days of cephalexin. He told me it could also be a viral infection of some kind and mentioned herpes. I have an appt with a dermatologist next week if it does not get better. Feline Herpes Virus? Here goes. I took in a kitten from a litter my mom had. Eventually she was sneezing, runny nose, bad breath, and ulcers in the mouth. I brought her in to our vet and I got her full set of shots and he put her on medication. I think he determined she had feline herpes virus. Well the ulcers returned again, so we put her own more medicing, thinking that she hadn't been on it long enought he first time. Needless to say the ulcers returned. This time I had her spayed. While she was under the doctor took a biopsy of a piece of the ulcer to send off. He still believes it is the herpese virus though. He says it will be something she will have for the rest of her life and she will have to remain on Lysine. We haven't gotten the results back but I'm not sure how much her mouth is improving. It still looks pretty bad. She is also on some amoxicillian. She eats and drinks water. Plus, she has seemed pretty out of it lately. Sleeping a lot. They may be due to the surgery but I'm not sure. Opinion? I know she did have some other blood tests done which camme out normal but I will check to see if they tesed for calcivirus. I'm going to call the vet tommorrow. He just suspects herpes virus but that's why he had the biopsy done on one of the worse ulcers in her mouth so that he could be sure what is going on with her. I just read this online about calcivirus having to do with rhino and herpes virus. So I would assume Calcivirus is a symptom maybe? He has consulted with other vets over there and I think they agreed with him. need to know if herpes virus can enter gastrointestinal area while with Dx. of CVID? I have a history of herpes simplex, and have had several out breaks of shingles on all parts of my body. I also have a history of vaginal herpes, with a recent out break after 3 years of being free. And currently have had one half of my stomach removed, with a feeding tube into the small intestine. Symptoms, fever of unknown etiolgy, malaice, pain in some of the effected areas. I am on Gammaglobulin every month for the CVID Dx. I have had numerous EGD's with dilation , this usually lasts for 6 or more months, the last dilation was a month ago, I have experienced vomiting episodes everyday, sometimes up to 3 times per day. You people do know that they are talking about Herpes when they are talking about "Human paplova virus" I keep seeing these commercials on TV talking about ..."did you know that a virus can cause cervical cancer in women, called human papalova virus or HPV" ....You all do know that HPV = Herpes Virus. HSV1 is cold sores and you get it through people that has it by kissing sharing drinks anything that have touched the person infected. however, when you give oral sex or lets say kissed someone else's genitals while you have the HSV1, how come it automatically switches to HSV2 when that person gets it from you? or is it different? meaning if that person gets genital herpes from HSV1, can you tell the difference if a person gets genital herpes from HSV2? because this is really really serious since researching online, it shows that 85-90% of the population has HSV1 but just dormant or some shows it by having cold sores. if almost everyone has the virus then wouldn't it give a lot of people genital herpes since a lot of people give oral sex/kissing? however not everyone gets genital herpes through HSV1 so this is just confusing. thank you for all your answers! thanks so far for the answers, but can you comment on how crazy it is that 85-90% population has the HSV and just by having that virus while giving oral sex it could transfer to someone's genitals and turn into genital herpes. so do you agree that we should NEVER give oral sex unless protected? however, not everybody uses condom/diahprams while doing oral

Could the Epstein Barr Virus make a herpes test positive since the EBV is a herpes simplex virus?? I have had the EBV & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for a few years. It has gotten progressively worse through the years; from a 'flare up', every 2-3 yrs, to an 'OUTBREAK', every 3 months. My husband was diagnosed with herpes keratits in 1983 and was told to use 'normal caution', like with the 'pink eye'. HMPH!!! It was highly contagous and my condition is highly contagious. Feline Herpes Virus? I have 2 cats, one of which I adopted a year ago. The one year old was diagnosed with FHV and it is assumed that he was born with it. The only symptoms he has is similar to a conjunctivitis-he has runny eyes. His eyes are also cloudy with a small capillary crossing over one of his eyes. He is a very energetic cat and still acts like a kitten. The other cat may carry the virus but does not show symptoms. The cats are indoor cats and never go outside. With 2 dogs and 2 cats, it is expensive to take the cats to the vet. They only get taken to the vet when they are sick or when he has a "flare-up". I bought Enisyl-F, a paste, but the cat gets side effects of diarrhea. Besides his eyes, the virus doesn't seem to affect him, but should he be on medications?When I did bring him to the doctor, they said that it was good we had brought him in because he could have gone blind. Are all cold sores the herpes virus? I have two painful little sores on my mouth, both on the same side. One is more inside, one is on the outside corner of my lip. Anyone have a cat with Feline Herpes Virus? I adopted a cat from an animal shelter about a year ago who from day one exhibited a runny nose, swollen eyes, etc. Took her into the vet and she was diagnosed with FHV-1. About every 2 to 3 months she displays symptoms of the virus and becomes very lethargic and I take her into the vet. The only real treatment she receives there is a homeopathic remedy which seems to work slowly, if at all. Here are my questions: Should I continue to take her to the vet when the symptoms appear or let the virus run its course and if you have experience with cats with this problem, what supplements/medications/food have you given for treatment?
