Herpes

What is the best kind of doctor to see for herpes?

I've had herpes for 2 years now and am taking suppressive therapy, but am still having more outbreaks than I'd like. What kind of doctor would be the best to see? I'm looking for someone who will have some different ideas on ways I can improve my situation. I know that gynecologist might seem like the obvious answer, but most of those seem to be more into delivering babies where I live. What about a dermatologist? Thanks!

  1. Dr. Drew
  2. a herpes doctor
  3. A family practitioner or a gynecologist.
  4. Dr. Chris Modlesky
  5. any medical doctor is fully equip to treat STDs..STDs is not a specialty, so any doctor can look at you and help
  6. Go to your family doctor, Im sure he/she can refer you to a specialist.
  7. Maybe a Gynocologist or however you spell it. Whether you are a girl or guy I think that type of doctor has seen more genital problems than anyone. Otherwise you could see Dr. Pepper!
  8. See a Urologist (as it's a sexually transmitted disease) or a really specialised Virologist (expensive and hard to find)
  9. thats what I was gonna say a dermatologist seems like the logical answer. Otherwise maybe a internal medicine doc since it is virus inside your body, I dunno otherwise.
  10. if you're a woman better see a gynecologist, based on your question you know where to go!a dermatologist can help you on your rashes or skin irritation but an M.D or a gynecologist or urologist knows what drug to be given because it's a viral problem right?
  11. www.herpesmiracle.com Zovirax & Valtrex only seemed to keep my symptoms "JUST below the skin" and I still had tingling & itching like I was about to have an outbreak... the herbal remedies actually helped alot more!
