What are the signs and symptoms of genital herpes?
Just wondering what the signs and symptoms of genital herpes is. I get these under the skin knots around my bikini/vaginal lip area sometimes, nothing ever happens to them unless I mess with them, but they itch a little bit like razor burn does, and sometimes they just go away, other times I will continue to mess with them, and they just pop like a pimple would. Any advice? I am positive for HSV 1, but I don't believe it's genital, I've gotten ulcers and canker sores in my mouth since I was a little kid. Thanks! :) PLEASE ONLY GIVE ADVICE IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT, NO IMMATURE, UNEDUCATED COMMENTS PLEASE! :) Okay I just google searched the images for genital herpes, and what I have looks NOTHING like it... again, looks like little knots under the skin, they aren't tender or painful unless I start messing with them, and they just go away on their own, they don't bust or weep puss or anything like that. If I do mess with them enough, they just pop like a pimple, then go right away.

- google image genital herpes http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1T4ADBS_enUS248US249&q=genital+herpes&um=1&sa=N&tab=wi Try looking at Bartholin Cyst they could just be pimples... probably from shaving...
- That could just be ingrown hairs. I'd wait till you have it occure again and then see your doctor then you'll know for sure.
- What you are describing sounds like ingrown hairs (something like razor burn- but you can "pop" them like a zit if they get big enough) Herpes you sometimes don't ever know you have them if they are inside, but if you can see them, they will usually look sorta like the fever blisters you get on your lips- just in the very uncomfortable areas!
- Genital herpes is a highly contagious sexually transmitted disease. Features of genital herpes include pain, itching and sores in your genital area. The cause of genital herpes is a strain of herpes simplex virus (HSV), which enters your body through small breaks in your skin or mucous membranes. Sexual contact is the primary way that the virus spreads. The majority of people who've been infected with HSV never know they have the disease because they have no signs or symptoms. The signs and symptoms of HSV can be so mild they go unnoticed. The first outbreak is generally the worst, and some people never experience a second outbreak. Other people, however, can experience outbreaks as long as 40 years after the initial outbreak. When present, genital herpes symptoms may include: * Small, red bumps, blisters (vesicles) or open sores (ulcers) in the genital, anal and nearby areas * Pain or itching around your genital area, buttocks or inner thighs There's no cure for genital herpes. However, genital herpes treatment includes oral prescription antiviral medications, including acyclovir (Zovirax), famciclovir (Famvir) and valacyclovir (Valtrex), to help heal the sores sooner and reduce the frequency of relapses. If taken daily, these medications may also reduce the chance you'll infect your partner with the herpes virus.-
- Your research is correct. Genital herpes is the exact same as HSV1. The only difference between type 1 & 2 is the location. The bumps you have are normal. A lot of the time it is an ingrown hair that has gotten infected. The bikini/vaginal lip area is a high-chafe area, so the constant friction may cause the hair to grown under the surface instead of out. Try wearing looser fitting pants and using an anti-chafe powder. That should just about eliminate the problem.
- I believe that you may have a condition called Hidradenitis Supprativa.of re-occurring boils/ cysts/abscesses , that are often misdiagnosed as ingrown hairs, herpes, being unclean or over wieght and folliculitis. This is a newly diagnosed skin condition , but there is a lot of info out there. Here is a link : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hidradeniti... or the HS_USA page is .. http://www.hs-usa.org/hidradenitis_suppu... If this sounds like it might be you, READ it, PRINT it out, and TAKE it to your DOC. Its better to try to start treatment soon, it can spread over the body if left untreated. These boils can become quite large and painful. Sometimes even lasting for weeks or months , do not attempt to POP them they can then tunnel under your skin and spread all over the body. Most common areas are armpits, groin, binkni line, inner legs, and intimate places and basically anywhere that sweats and rub against clothing. Stress is a big inducer. There is a support group at MSN http://groups.msn.com/HidradenitisSuppor... This is also a link to a PDF of a study in Germany about HS and if it is genetic... I thought it was intresting : http://www.hs-foundation.org/pdf/2000_Clinical_Genetics_of_HS_Revisited_von_der_Werth.pdf and a yahoo one, and I am open for questions! I have had this for 8 years, I was misdiagnosed for a LONG time, It was very embarrassing, painful and scary. I am just trying to help out so you don’t have to wait as long as I did. Currently I have 5 , 2 next to each other on my right inner groin. 2 in my upper HAIR area, and 1 med sized on my butt on the panty line, and they do come every week or so. I find that certian foods, not having a regular showering regimen, wearing clothing that irratiates the area.. and STRESS usually are a precusor to getting one. I also prefer to use NEXCARE bandages.. there are 2 kinds I like for comfort and stay put reasons.. the first is like a clear bandaid.... soft on the edges with a small area of bandage... helps with those buggers when they are on bikni line.. usually stay for me.. or occasionally on my inner thigh for those I like the foamy sponge like ones that are beige in color.. I think they are 3M.
