If you have cold sores would you should symptoms of gential herpes?

I know that not everyone shows symptoms of genital herpes, but if someone has cold sores, wouldn't they show symptoms of genital herpes if they had them?

1. . This is a good site to read @ http://www.herpes-coldsores.com/ ; .. Cold sores are NOT the same as g.herpes. 80% of people have had cold sores. YOU are probably ok.
2. Cold sores are HSV-1, genital herpes is HSV-2. Some people with one or both of these viruses NEVER show any symptoms nor have an actual outbreak, yet they are fully capable of spreading the disease. Also, cold sores on the mouth can be spread to another person's genitals via oral sex, so it's possible to have HSV-1 genitally as well as hsv-2 orally. The only way to know for sure is to be tested -and it can take up to 4 months after exposure for your body to create the antibodies that the test recognizes. Note that the basic STD test does NOT include testing for HSV!! you must specifically ask for hsv test in addition to basic std's they test for. This is probably part of the reason these diseases are so rampant!
3. no , not necessarily. And just because they have cold sores doesnt mean they have herpes either. get checked, thats the best way to know.
