Herpes

Another Question about Herpes?

In 2001, I separated from my boyfriend and had a sexual encounter with my ex boyfriend (the only other person I've ever slept with) I performed oral sex on him. About a week later I got a cold sore (I've had this type of sore all my life, even before I ever kissed a guy). I also had a bump just inside my vaginal lip. Later my boyfriend got a bump. I had shaved my vagina thoroughly before the sexual encounter with my ex. I have noticed that any time I shave my vagina about a week later a bump pops up just like the first bump in the same area. But, I've looked at pictures of genital herpes, read the symptoms and they don't match up. The bump I get is never red, does not open, and never scabs over. The bump comes up several times a year about a week after shaving. This also doesn't fit with what I've read. Is it possible I have genital herpes or just an ingrown hair. After the hair starts to grow back, I feel it poking me in the area where the bump comes up. I just wanted to add that I have spoke with the health department and they feel it's probably just an ingrown hair that keeps appearing, but I haven't had a bump for them to test. Also a heat compress makes the bump go down. I just wanted to add that the bump I get looks nothing like a blister and occurs at the very top of my vagina, no where near the opening, clitoris, or anus.

  1. It might just be an ingrown hair. But see your doctor just to make sure. Perhaps avoid shaving. Good luck.
  2. Herpes is usually a clear filled bump (or group of bumps), and are painful. They pretty much look like what is on your lip, only on your labia or perineum (area between your vagina and anus). What you're describing sounds a lot like folliculitis (inflamed hair follicle- or "in grown")- just like what you described above. The only way to know for sure is to see your health care provider within 24 hours of the bump occurring (so that they can get the best culture). Good Luck! Karilee @ www.wellnesscenterusa.com
  3. if u have cold sores u possibly have oral herpes but that doesn't mean that u automatically have genital hereps. try shaving agian before u get it tested and don't put heat on it and see if it is still there for them to test. if the symptoms don't match what u read then i would say its not herpes.
  4. It could be an ingrown hair or a razor bump. Just a suggestion. Hope you get this all cleared up.
